Welcome!

This toolbox provides SSU instructors with course content and activities to support students' information literacy development. The material provided teaches students how to find, evaluate, and use information from library resources and the open web. Instructors are welcome to import, embed, or adapt content for their online courses. If you see something you are interested in adding to your course, be it a worksheet, Canvas Page or even a full module, contact Kaitlin Springmier for help bringing the content into your course. This toolbox will provide you with the opportunity to teach your students the research skills they need in your Canvas course.

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to describe the library's collections, services, and spaces and how they can support student success.
Students will be able to create questions for research based on information gaps and/or examination of existing, possibly conflicting, information.
Students will be able to demonstrate persistence, adaptability, and/or flexibility in research pursuits.
Students will be able to develop complex research plans and search methodologies to seek out and retrieve information.
Students will be able to select and integrate sources that best meet their information need, considering audience, context, and purpose.
Students will be able to communicate ethical and legal restrictions on the use of published, confidential, and/or proprietary information and correctly attribute sources with formal citation conventions.
