Explore the library's services

The Sonoma State University Library supports you by providing spaces, services, and materials at no cost to you.

Reserve Study Spaces

If you're looking for a place to study with a group, reserve a study room! Study rooms can accommodate between 4 and 12 people and are available to be booked during the library's open hours. Students meeting in a study room

Some things to keep in mind when using a study room:

Reserving a room before using one can help avoid scheduling conflicts.
Reservations are limited to SSU students only
Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance
Reservations are limited to four hours

Study rooms include whiteboards, comfortable seating, powered tables, and monitors for screen sharing.

Borrow Materials

The library loans books, equipment, technology, and course materials at no cost to you!

Check out library materials with your SSU Seawolf card or picture ID. Visit your library account to see your due dates, renewals, holds, and fines.

Students can check out up to 100 items at one time. Most materials can be borrowed for 16 weeks, the average length of a semester.

To return materials, feel free to use the Book Drop bins located outside the first floor entrance and outside the second floor entrance.

Borrowing from Other Libraries

Are you looking for something we don’t have? We can get it for you! We can access all kinds of materials from other libraries through CSU+.

Most materials will be received in just a few days. There are no late fees and you can borrow items for up to 60 days.

Research Help

Librarians are research experts and we're here to help you with all of your research questions, wherever you are in the process. We have guides for subjects, tutorials to help you get started, and 24/7 chat to answer any questions you might have anywhere you are working.

Chat with a Librarian online, anytime, 24/7. This is a shared effort, so the Librarian helping you might be from one of our partner libraries. Regardless, any librarian staffing the chat service will be able to help you access or navigate the resources at your campus library.

Research Guides

Use research guides to discover research tools, explore the research process, and locate helpful resources for a wide variety of academic topics and specific courses. Our research guides are created by your friendly SSU Librarians and will direct you to the best sources for whatever you're researching. You can find guides by subject, or see if your course has a course specific guide.

Meet with a Librarian

SSU Librarians are available to meet with you one-on-one to answer any of your research questions. For in-depth help with your research, schedule an appointment with a librarian in-person or via Zoom. During these meetings, you can get help focusing your topic, searching for information, navigating databases, accessing materials, evaluating your sources, and tracking or citing sources.

You can also stop by our Information / Checkout Desk on the 2nd floor of the library to talk to a librarian Monday-Thursday 9-5.
